PFL NEWS
2-13-02(AP)Peanut- Changes are on the way for the Knights, in fact, they have already begun. In addition to changing uniform colors, the Knights are considering shortening their name from Wood Street Heights Knights to simply Wood Street Knights. Team owner Alex Sipe said the reasons for the changes were that "The colors were just too wild to give the feel that the Knights are trying to convey. And the name change is for practicality's sake." 2-16-02(AP)Peanut- Rumors abound in Upper Loyalhanna that the area is about to become the home of the first PFL expansion franchise. Supposedly, an ownership group led by PFL Films President R. Alan Crousey is already in place.
2-18-02(AP)Peanut- Rumors that were reported Saturday are confirmed true. During the holiday shortened week, the top officers plan to interview two new prospective team owners. Along with Upper Loyalhanna's ownership group, New Alexandria has throw their helmets into the ring. Tuesday and Wendesday will hold their interviews respectively.
2-21-02(AP) Peanut- Today's privately scheduled game test with R. Alan Crousey's Upper Loyalhanna Lions was cancelled at the 11th hour due to acedemic circumstances. The game test will be re-scheduled in the near future and a decision will be made concerning the PFL and expansion. In related news, New Alex's ownership team was caught tampering with the PFL poll which automatically takes their proposition out of contention as an expansion team for the PFL.
2-28-02(AP)Peanut- PFL Commissioner Mike McCarthy has moved swiftly in the wake of a dastardly theft. McCarthy announced earlier today that the Wood St. Knights and Owner G. Alexander Sipe have been suspended indefinately pending the investigation of the theft of the Official PFL Football. Reports have placed Sipe at the scene of the crime when the Football was stolen by Benjamin Hantz. Check back for more breaking details.
2-28-02(AP) Peanut- PFL Commissioner Mike McCarthy has recently retracted his hasty and uninformed decison to suspend the Knights and Owner G. Alexander Sipe from participation from the PFL. Although the football was stolen by Benjamin Hantz from Sipe, Sipe was not connected in the plot to harm the PFL in anyway. Sipe talked to the media in a rare appearance about todays events saying, "I think that his(McCarthy's) decision was made too early, he had no chance to get the facts from the source. I sincerely hope that future decisons concering the well-being of the PFL are made with a little more thought." Benjamin Hantz has made ammends with Sipe and the PFL. This story still seems far from over.
3-7-02(AP) Peanut-PFL Films President and quietly contracted team owner R. Alan Crousey's involvement in the PFL is in serious jeopardy. A conflict of interest has arose for Crousey, reportedly he has been signed as the BPFL's Photographer. The BPFL which was formulated by former PFL Public Relations Officer Jeremy Holzer is an apparent slap in the PFL's face. Its name(Better Paper Footbal League) envokes feelings of hurt and scorn. Holzer was rejected as earlier this season as a prospective team owner, but was going to be reconsidered. That now seems impossible. The public will soon know if R. Alan Crousey's fate will be similar.
10-1-02(AP) Washington PA-The PFL will return this December after a lengthy absence, announced Commisioner Michael McCarthy. After secret talks were held with V.P. of Paper Football Operations G. Alexander Sipe earlier in the week, the two agreed to place their teams in the inaugural Caldwell Christmas Classic sometime between Christmas and the New Year. At stake will be the brand new Caldwell Cup. The PFL is currently looking for a Cup sponsor. It was also revealed that G. Alexander Sipe has filled the newly created position of President of Football Operations.
10-3-02(AP) Washington PA- The PFL has welcomed two charter league sponsors. Elizabeth "Libby" McCarthy and the Ben Hantz Better Baseball Program have each paid two dollars to sponsor the PFL for the upcoming season. Some may recognize Miss McCarthy as the brother of PFL Commisioner Michael McCarthy, but he has assured the media that there is no conflict of interest. Observant fans will also recognize Ben Hantz as the mastermind behind the late February theft of the PFL football. Apparently, the Allegheny Gator has turned a new leaf.
